The Joint Best of ASTRO® 2018 and Best of ASCO® 2018 meeting is organized as a two-day summary of the top ranked and most influential abstracts from the Annual Meetings.
The Program Planning Committee selects the abstracts in advance of the Annual Meeting, and the Track Chair (Moderators) of each disease site/section will act as a Discussant to present the selected abstracts.
The Moderator's role is to provide a context that helps better judge the importance of the abstracts within that section, compare and contrast the abstracts and highlight key points through their own presentation, and use their expertise in this area to guide an active discussion that helps describe how the information may be relevant to the audience's daily practice.
Abstract tracks/sections will be grouped together and then a "Faculty Question and Answer" period will take place. An open discussion is also encouraged in this session.
Upon completion of this live activity, attendees should be able to do the following:
› Describe the most current data guiding cancer management decisions;
› Utilize modern radiation technology to improve patient care;
› Employ quality and safety measures in the delivery of radiation therapy;
› Incorporate knowledge of cancer biology and pathogenesis into practice;
› Evaluate use of new diagnostic techniques to apply in the management and care of patients and screening of people at risk;
› Collaborate across specialties and other members of the available staff to provide the most effective management of a patient with cancer;
› Review the most recent data form clinical trials and new achievements in clinical cancer research.
